Grieg Lodge Youth Programs

We have a Youth Director devoted to ensuring that our youngest members have fun opportunities to experience Norwegian culture, learn new skills, make friends, and participate in lodge events as volunteers.

Every other Sunday we have Syngestund, where tots learn Norwegian songs, Barnehage, where kids play Norwegian word games, and Leikarringen where youngsters learn Norwegian folk dancing (and often get the opportunity to perform at our events as well as at local cultural events). The more adventurous ones have a chance to go rock climbing at the nearby Portland Rock Gym, and special activities provide crafts and cooking opportunities with some of our more seasoned volunteers to guide them. Our Halloween Boo Norsk is a long-standing tradition and our Children’s Christmas Party is fun for kids of all ages, with Norwegian cookies galore and a visit from Julenisse. And once a month is a Family Dinner where we enjoy time together and celebrate the kids’ birthdays.
